Mr. Zahir Naseer, a man of few words had a great impact within the carrom circle and gained immense respect not only in Maldives but around the whole world. He was considered the father of carrom in Maldives and was made life-time Honorary President of Maldives Carrom Association. Mr. Naseer was a great personality, a mentor, an example and a father to the Carrom Family, not just in Maldives, but across the globe. It's a huge loss to the Carrom Family.
Carrom Canada salutes Mr. Muhammad Zahir Naseer.
Here are a few Facebook updates from his colleagues.
Maldives. Zahir was a loving and sincere champion of the ICF. As a president of the International Carrom Federation until January 2015, I had great pleasure and trust not only in working with him, but benefiting from his sincere advices and support.
I remember when he hosted the 2nd Congress of the ICF in Male, where the Laws of the International Carrom Federation were adopted. He once invited a national Carrom team from Germany for Indo-German Test Match Series in Male. I went took there six German players and we had very friendly matches. In 2005 after I took over as President of the ICF he invited me for a Bureau meeting of the ICF and also to attend the Asian Championship in Male. With the help of Zahir we were able to demonstrate Carrom at the Olympic Village in Athens in 2004. I had the occasion of meeting Zahir in almost all International Tournaments and Carrom meetings. Last time I saw him during the World Championship in Maldives and then on my way back from Trivandrum I was his guest for one day.
Zahir will always live in our minds, better to say as long the game of Carrom will be shining in the world Zahir will be shining as a brilliant star. There is a lot to learn from the sincerity, dedication, honesty and friendly character of Zahir the shining star of Carrom. Let us prove that we have the ability of learning something from his life and contributions.
May God bless his soul and give him peace and protection and a place in paradise. Ameen.
